I was really excited about getting this product, because in the past 5 months, I have lost 100 pounds on Atkins!  I'm really trying to flatten my stomach and doing the situps on the floor was just not working, and it was killing my back!  So I bought the Ab Scissor, received it today, put it together which was really easy, I have to admit.  I did the 4 minute work out and all I gotta say is, I have been fooled once again by TV!  This machine works your arms MUCH MORE then your abs!  My arms tired out before my abs did, and even after the work out, my abs were still not tired, but my arms were almost ready to fall off.  The instructions tell you to use your abs to do the workout but this is impossible!  The machine will not move if you are not pulling on the handle bars with your arms and hands.  Yes, if you move your mid section along with the 'scissor action' you feel it in your abs but not nearly as you feel it in your arms.  I am really disappointed at myself for being dooped yet again by a infomercial.  I will continue to use the machine for a few weeks and see if it's actually working, but I seriously doubt this is going to be the case.  And if I return it, I'm NOT paying S&H to return it, the company can pay for it.  Because if it goes back, it's going back because of false advertising, I'm not paying for their lies.  I would say right now, do not buy this but I will post another review in 2 weeks to see if my assumptions add up.

My fiance and I DO NOT recommend the Ab Scissor.  We were conviced of its effectiveness when we saw the awesome infomercial, but we ended up very disappointed.  The machine is more of workout machine for your arms than your ab.  We didn't return it because was too much of a bother so we ate the expense and put it out by the dumpster after two weeks of owning it.  Since we were dooped into buying it in the first place, we're very hesitant toward trying any product now, such as the Ab Lounge.  I'm back to using reverse crunches with my Medicine Ball. My bad experience with the Ab Scissor, Body by Jake has ruined it for other infomercial products.

I have to say that the ab scissor is a very well made product. It also targets all the muscles  needed to tone the abs and you REALLY FEEL IT! i hate floor exercises and this machine gets you off the floor and into your old clothes again! This has got to be the first machine i didn't buy to hang my clothes on..its fantastic..

OK LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, HERE GOES: I have never written a testimonial (good or bad) about any product until now. I purchased the Ab Scissor in March, 2004 after seeing the infomercial. I have a bad/sensitive lower back and shoulders and through the 15+ years of excersising, I have always been looking for a less painful way to work my abs. From the standard crunches (hurt my back/neck)to the last product purchased: the Ab Slide. The Ab Slide has worked very well for me during the last 3 years however, I can't stretch out far enough (back begins to hurt) to effectively work my lower abs. WHY I CHOSE THE AB SCISSOR: When looking at the workout on the infomercial, it remimded me of an excersise we did in high school: while sitting in a chair, place your hands on the side of the chair with elbows locked and lift up your knees as close to your chest as possible.  It WORKED! Really good for lower abs but uncomfortable as I got older. The Ab Scissor has the same action but with much more comfortable method. BOTTOM LINE: The Ab Scissor "works"!  I was very sceptical in buying this for the $250 + dollars but after using it for 4+ months, 4 times a week, and yes- 4 min a day, it has given me the results I was looking for with the comfort I need. ADVICE: If you purchase this machine and have never worked your abs before, GO SLOW; go very slow.   Do "not" try to imitate the people in the video's associated with this product; they're already in good shape.  Use the Ab Scissor at a very slow pace to start and find a comfortabe foot / arm position that suites your body.  In other words, practice with it for a while and then get into a "your" routine.   Remember, if your arms burn more than your abs do after a workout, your doing it wrong.  Lift with the legs and guide with the arms. RECOMMENDED: absolutely.

I received the Body by Jake Ab Scissor in January 2004 only to have the metal frame support crack. The frame had been poorly welded. I contacted the customer service department on March 23, April 6 and April 19. I also sent two emails, but to date I have not had the equipment picked up for repair. Each time I call I am provided a different excuse. I will be contacting them until I have the equipment fixed. I wouldn't recommend the product!

I like the first review for this product agree in all the same respect. It worked my arms more and I found it was awkward to use. I got no result and was annoyed too at how much out of pocket I had to spend not to achieve anything! Do not waste money!

I purchased and returned this machine. I need to lose in the middle section so it's not because that I'm in great shape that it didn't work for me.   I found it was working my arms more than my abs.  Tried it for about two weeks, re-watched the video several time to make sure I was doing it correctly, then returned it. Never made my abs sore at all.  Return shipping was about $45 so try someones before ordering if you are considering this machine.

Wow!  I was skeptical, but this machine REALLY gave my abs a great workout!  I started with the lowest (easiest) level workout.  You can't do the exercise in poor form and your back/neck are spared the strain of the traditional "on the floor" sit-up.  The machine was VERY easy to assemble and takes up very little space.  Top quality (machine is very stable), excellent instructional video (includes instructions on assembly).  This machine is a KEEPER!
