I have been using this product for 8 weeks and I love it. It doesn't strain your back like most products. You cant expect to see results right away but after regular use you will. The only bad thing about it is the spring squeaks LIKE CRAZY. I would suggest this product to anyone only if you don't get annoyed to easy.

I have been pleasantly surprised with my results from this product. I did have realistic results when I bought it, however - I was just looking for something to help me tone and trim my midsection without hurting my back (no six-pack fantasies here). After using the beginner workout 3-4 times per week for about 2 months, I've noticed that my ab muscles are stronger and more toned, and I'm starting to see a slight "cut" to my upper abs. Plus, I don't slouch as much. The key to this is to use it as frequently as recommended and, as the guy in the video says, "keep your mind focused on your midsection." If you really focus on using only your abs to do the movements, not letting your arms or upper torso just drag you back and forth, you get a really good workout. The machine can't do anything for you if you slack and don't force your abs to do the work!

I have used the Ab Doer for the past year. I use it every other day and have been working with the Advanced tape for the past six months. I have lost 9 inches in my waist, but still do not have the "six-pack" abs claimed. The spring does make a lot of noise, so I just turn up the TV to watch the tapes. What would be great would be updated tapes!

I wish I had found out about this website sooner. I got the Ab Doer on April 17, 2001, and I used it until August, and at that point, the spine of the machine broke, and I hardly lost any weight, and I didn't get the abs I wanted. All in all, I would say, if my mortal enemy were out there, I wouldn't even recommend this machine to him. It's JUST A BUNCH OF G****** BULLCRAP!!!!!

Garbage. Useless garbage. My wife and I came out of this much, much wiser (and $135.00 poorer). This contraption is pretty much a chair...with no back support. John Abdo--who NEVER had a 42-inch waist, I can assure you--should be ashamed.

I love it. Lost 3 inches in the first 10 days, using it every other day. True, washboard abs don't seem likely BUT, you also get the benefit of aerobic exercise while sitting on your butt. I check my heart rate while doing the advanced tape and it's never under 130. I have a very bad back and this helps a lot. I recommend it.

Whoever made the infomercial for this product should get a huge, fat raise.  Basically, it's about as useful as a broken chair.  My roommate and I dry our towels on it, and for a while we used it as a computer chair, but (ha ha), it had no support.  There is virtually no resistance, and it squeaks so loudly that I was embarrassed to use it in my apartment building; all the neighbors thought I was doing the nasty, so I gave up.  piece of junk.

This product does nothing for your midsection. It does however help a little with your love handles. If you are trying to tone your midsection, don't rely on this product. If you want to tighten your waist and love handles, it's DECENT, not spectacular. Basically, I should have returned the product within the 30 days, but I didn't. Although I'm not very happy with the results of this products, people need to realize it is just like any other marketing scheme, you have to realize you may get something good and you may not. Have realistic expectations so you are not completely disappointed when you do not achieve your desired results. Yes, I agree, crunches are more effective.

This thing is a chair and nothing else. I purchased the Ab Doer after I saw the infomercial.  I used it and saw no results.  I wasn't even sore.  All it's good for is the back massager.  We used it to hang our clothes on for a while, but now it's in the attic.  It was just another infomercial scam.

Purchased this product a year ago and sure wish i had seen the reviews on this site first.  Needless to say there is no resistance whatsoever and all it is a glorified back massager and nothing else. It would be a complete waste if i didnt use it in my laundry room to hang my sweaters and blouses on!!!

This machine is being marketed to the wrong audience. I purchased one and let it sit unused for months because, as other reviewers have already said, you use it and feel nothing. But, then, I suffered from one of the lower back muscle pulls I started getting all too often since entering middle-age. So, on a lark, I stretched out a bit on the abdoer and, voila, by the next morning the pain was gone. Whoa, doggies, I thought to myself! What is this? Sure enough, the same thing happened once or twice more. Since then, for about a year I use the Abdoer several times every week for 3 to 5 minutes a shot. I have had no more instances of lower back problems, which easily makes this product one of my best investments ever. So, here's the thing. This is a LOUSY exercise machine. But, if you suffer from occasional lower back pain, this is an awesome back stretching machine.

This product hurts my spine. Also, I must have a bad sense of balance because I seem to fall to off of it if I get going strenously on the contraption.   The noise it makes is loud and therefore defeats my purpose of doing it descreetly.   As for a chair to hang things on it takes too much room.

The Ab Doer was the biggest waste of money that I have ever spent.  It basicly became the most expensive clothes hanger in the world, because that is all that it was good for.  I felt nothing after working out on it, and it did nothing!! Do not buy this product it is useless and a waste of money.

My now ex-wife made me buy her this product when it first came out. It was the biggest waste of $150!!! After one day of using it, we dismanteled it and used it as a spare chair. You would be better off doing sit-ups than using the AB-DOer.

I purchased the ab doer before I had real knowledge about diet and exercise! I was 16 at the time of purchasing, my mother allowed me to use her credit card. I was so physched about a machine that I thought could produce results. Let me tell you that the only results I got from it were lower back pain. I followed all of the rules and correct form, but I was NOT feeling the burn during my routines. It was the worse 150.00 dollars ever spent on a product for me, because it does absolutely nothing.

Purchased product in may 2002.Product does work if you just want to tone down some, but not to get wash board body builder abs. Combine 15-20 minutes of cardio with 8 minutes of ab doer of this every other day along with sensible diet plan. Youll at least lose 10 pounds. I lost 15. But dont really count on great ab definition unless you do it for about 25 minutes everyday along with cardio. Also loose clothing gets caught in the spine sometimes. On scale of 1-10 I give it a 5.5.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I purchased the Ab-Doer and would respectfully request that you save your money and but a 25 lb weight to ad to your miserable cruches, as this thing does nothing. My wife and I are both in great shape thanks to EAS and the "Body for Life" diet. I was simply looking for a way to get 6-pack abs without killing myself. Well, the Ab-Doer does not work! Simple as that..... save the $200 because you'll get as good of a workout buying 15 cases of cheap beer and slamming them down. Ab-Doer on a scale of 1-10 = 1. No debate!

2" in 10 days is insane! Been there... tried this junky product. The Ab-Doer is a boat anchor. I work out often. This machine will help you no way. Do Not Get Ripped Off As I Did. If you keep the machine for 30 days to give it an honest whirl... you will not get any money back. Return your Ab-Doer before it's too late. Do a set-up and make it a great day (Because you just saved yourself from being choked out of $182.00!)

- Jay of California, USA writes:

I purchased this product at a reduced price just to try it out - even then it was a waste!  As other reviewers have mentioned, the spring has almost no resistance.  I'm tall (6'3"), and I totally overpowered the thing.   After 2 weeks of 15-20 minute workouts I gave up without seeing any physical changes.   Stick with crunches, they're cheaper and more effective.

- Robin of South Carolina, USA writes:

I love my Ab-Doer -- I have the Extreme version. You will get results if you lead with the waist--don't expect the machine to do the work for you. Even though the instructions said not to, I did use ankle weights around my arms (because I am female with the center of gravity in the hips) after awhile. The Advanced 20 minute workout was not enough cardio for me once I started to get into shape, but it works fine as the ab portion of a workout routine. When I fell on some steps and hurt my back, the fat came back so that really shows the difference. Love handles especially. The thing about this product that helped me most was that if I didn't feel like working out, just plopping down and doing some back stretches on it put me in the mood.
