I lost 20 pounds in no time. I felt pretty good. I felt quilty after all these years eating so much fat so I tried to trim the fat as much as I could. I had a physical and my doctor was shocked. My cholesterol was through the roof and had not been before. It has been a battle to get it down again.

I previously went on this diet, and let me say it is very dnagerous. I had continous headaches, turning in my stomach, felt weak, agitated, and extremely hungry. I would have to say that the diet is very strict. Just the first week it felt like I was going to pass out. I am not knocking the diet, but for people like me who are used to eating this may not be the best diet. Currently what works for me now is eating small frequent meals, lots of water, and good, frequent exercise. You have to make an effort in keeping healthy and making good choices. The hardest part is sticking to it.

I didn't like this program at all.. it made me very weak and tired. I didn't have the strength to exercise. I also had bad stomache aches and times where I just felt like throwing up from so much meat. I did lose a lot of weight after only the first week, which was great... but I don't think it was worth all the pain. I'd rather lose weight a healthier way. A diet without fruits and tons of meat isn't exactly what I'd call healthy.

This diet did work for me for a short time, however it did have its drawbacks! First, all I could really eat was eggs, meat, and small amounts of cheese. After 3 days you have no appetite because you are sick of eating only these foods. I did feel VERY deprived when we had company over and everyone else was eating pizza. When my body finally went into "ketosis" after 2 weeks(I bought those urine strips to test each day)...I started having problems with my kidneys aching. I don't know if it had anything to do with the diet or not, but it was not pleasant. I also ended up with a yeast infection - the doctor said that this was common in women when all they are eating is eggs, meats and cheeses and little else. So I would not recommend this to anyone. I think all I lost in the first 2 weeks was water weight because I managed to put it all back on as quickly as it came off.

I went home two years ago for Thanksgiving and saw my sister after months of being away at school. She looked amazing and told me she was doing the Atkins Diet, so I gave it a try. At the time I was 230 lbs at 5'9". In 1 year, I lost 60 lbs and I've also learned to control my food cravings. Although I am no longer on a strict Atkins plan, I have learned to incorporate this way of eating into my life and I continue to lose weight slowly. The diet was initially difficult for me because I love sweets, but once you've gone a week or two without certain foods, your body no longer craves those foods. On this diet you also learn what makes you gain weight and how your body reacts to certain types of foods. I've recently convinced my current roommate to go on the Atkins plan and in two weeks she's lost 10 lbs. Atkins has been a blessing for me! I LOVE IT!

Of all the diets I have tried this one really works! I eat more than just eggs, meat and cheese! I have lost 25lbs in 2 1/2 months, and have been able to keep it off! If you stick to the diet it will work. I have had no health problems, in fact I have even lowered my blood pressure! There are tons of things you can eat on this diet. You will miss some of your favorite foods like chips and potatoes, but you gradually reintroduce certain foods back.

This is absolutely a lifesaver for me. No more migraine headaches, no more IBS, nor more acne. The range of foods is incredible, and delicious! The first two weeks are a little strict, but how strict is prime rib steak and salad every day if you want it? A long list of vegetables, along with seafood, poultry, eggs, meats, and oils. Even a little cream in tea or decaf if you want it, or a little cheese. After the first two weeks, you gradually increase the vegetables, and expand to other foods, such as nuts and fruits. By the time you get to maintenance, you can even have that piece of birthday cake, and the occasional baked potato. Really, this is the first diet that helps with appetite without any gimmicks or drugs. In my opinion, the test strips are not necessary. You can see it's working as the weight falls off. It's low carb for life, for me.

I went into the Atkins program in a big way, read all the books, bought the strips, joined an online support group and made all the recipes. I needed to lose 75 lbs and did manage to lose 20 lbs. Lost the weight in the first three months and six months later not one more pound came off. I found the eating plan fairly easy to follow enjoying all the fatty foods although I am a big carb lover. Well, my cholesterol tests came back high and I decided to abandon Atkins for a while. The weight came back on immediately when I introduced carbs at a moderate level. I don't feel this is a forever or healthy eating plan. My recommendation would be to only do this if you wanted to lose weight for a big event in the near future. But don't count on it for permanent weight loss.

I would not suggest this diet to anyone. Although it does make sense and does work, it is not something that can be maintained for a lifetime. It is unrealistic to think you can eat only protein for your entire life! I found it very hard to stay on the diet because you are restricted from so many foods. I had no energy the whole time I was on the diet and I was always constipated! I didn't feel very hungry and I did lose 10 pounds very quickly, but as soon I stopped I put 20 pounds back on just as quickly.

The Atkins Diet was an initial lifesaver for me. I ate great foods, dropped about 30 pounds and lowered my blood pressure to a normal level. IT WAS GREAT! However, I needed to lose about 50 more! They wouldn't come off no matter how hard I tried. My roommate had the same problem. Then I got kidney stones (OUCH!) and was told that eating too much meat could be a contributing factor to that (but I still don't know for sure). Either way, once we quit, we gained A LOT more than we ever lost and we even tried to quit gradually.

I was very gung-ho about starting this program, as I had just had a baby. I read all the books and even purchased the recipe book. I lost a good bit of weight, but never felt well. I was tired, and even had increased migraine headaches. I think this is good if you're looking for short-term quick results, but not good if you want to keep off the weight. It's impossible to eat only protein, not to mention, bad for you.
- Clive of the United Kingdom, England writes:
For the short time that I was on this diet I felt very deprived and sick of eating the same old food. This has got to be the worst diets I have been on because there feels like there's such little choice even though there are loads of meats you can eat. Although you do feel fuller after eating meat or sausages, later you're starving and CRAVING the foods you love.
- Lois of Massachusetts, USA writes:
The diet does what it says--lost weight, lowered blood pressure and cholesteral. I do miss sweets--there are chocolate covered nuts that are not so bad. It does seem to take longer than two weeks for the effects to get visible. I also started strength training at the same time with the Total Gym. The net effect is terrific.

This product and low-carb lifestyle definitely works IF you follow the instructions and take the necessary medical precautions as instructed in his book. I've been an Atkins client for almost 2 yrs and have lost 26 lbs and 8 inches and kept it off! The induction is the most difficult to do but once you learn how your metabolism works and how much carbs your body can realistically handle then you learn how to balance your diet and lifestyle which you will need to adjust your whole life through. By the way, Atkins works best when you do resistance training and aerobics in combo with the Atkins.

This product is a total waste of money. Don't buy it! Everything you need to know to start the Atkins program (which is working great for me) is available for free on the internet. Try the diet... after about 2 weeks you won't even crave carbs. But... don't waste you money on these BORING videos.

It's been 10 days that I'm doing this diet and the first week I lost 7 pound but the day after that which was the 8th day I gained 1 pound and in the 9th day I gain another 1 pound and I'll not know about tomorrow whether I'll gain or lose but there are some stuff really painful in this diet that you'll be tired of eating: eggs and cheese. You'll have a bad breath and problems going to the bathroom! Also yellowish face and eyeballs because there's no fruit in this diet. I suggest people should read Mr. Leonard's article about this diet first and then use it. I wonder if Dr. Atkins saw those articles himself before!
- Belinda of California, USA writes:
I like the idea of the Dr Atkins program. Unfortunately, my body hates it. I get so tired on the diet that I don't even want to exercise or do much else. Also, I start feeling pain in my kidneys once a day or every couple days.

I can't believe that Dr. Atkins has actually endorsed this infomercial. I have been doing Atkins for a little over 3 months. I read everything I could get my hands on, including his books. I've had great success, but you have to follow the rules. Yes there are rules, no you cannot gorge on endless amounts of food, and guess what?- there are no miracles. The biggest difference I've encountered between the infomercial and Dr. Atkins books and website is the infomercial's repeated statement that no exercise is necessary. I have read nothing on Dr. Atkins website or books that support that statement. I wish we could get some realism in all of these infomercials. There is no such thing as a free ride. I have queries in to Atkins to see if this infomercial is actually under his control or supervision. If not, I plan on reporting it as fraudulent.
