I loved the Cableflex until the right side blew out after a year. When I took it apart, I discovered that the steel coil (similar to the coil in a lawn mower starter assembly) had snapped and also that the plastic wheel that holds the coil had cracked. I fixed it temporarily, but the right side is failing again. The concept and design are excellent for an aerobic workout using light to medium resistance for the upper body. And it's easy to store and take along on trips. Too bad they built it out of junk materials. The carrying bag is also great in concept and design, but the zipper failed within a few weeks of easy use. I hope they take another crack at building this product right.

I have nothing but praise for my Cableflex. As I was getting older, well out of shape and not a person who enjoys gym work-outs, I wanted something that I could use at home that would not take up a great amount of space. The Cableflex fitted the bill to a T. It has worked flawlessly in the 6 years I have owned one and has helped me get my body into reasonable shape. I love working out with the DVDs and the machine is both compact and versatile. I would recommend Cableflex without reservation.

I had problems with this cheaply manufactured garbage. The first problem was the right pulley. I had to make a box and sent it back They did repalce it free of charge. The second problem was cheap plastic wheel that houses the spring broke that's located insde the blue box. This time in order to get it replaced I have to pay for the shiping and $19 for the repair. These two incident occurred less than four months apart

I was using and loving this product until the right cable wouldn't retract all the way. I tried to ignore it but it affects the resistence and has now gotten worse. The cable is slack and just won't rewind. Have written an email to customer service but no word from them as yet. Then I saw that other folks have had the same issue with the right side. I guess it's a flaw in the mechanics on some of the machines. Too bad, it could be a good product.

I was surprised by so many negative reviews. I ordered my cf gym via tv and it came with excellent video and handcards. I haven't had any difficulty using it though when I travel I make sure to turn the knob all the way in since new security regs won't allow u to carry it on board an airline jet. Great for warm ups and ab work. I use it for light toning when I can't use full gym equipment.

I too purchased the cableflex at a discount store for 10 dollars and it came without an instruction manual or video or exercise cards. This was dissappointing because I am a novice at using exercise equipment. I have looked up as many websites on this product as I can find and have seen pictures of exercises that can be done with this machine, so that helps a little. My machine has good resistance and moves smoothly. So, if within 30 days, if I haven't used it, or figured out how to use it, I will return it. I like Jackie Chan very much and I don't care about his indorsement of this or any other product-he's amazing!!

I bought my jackie chan cable flex on line about 2 years ago. I have only used it once. I paid $120 for this machine and I didn't get any video's with it. I called the company I bought it from and they said video's didn't come with it. I asked if I could purchase video's for it and they said they didn't have any for purchase. I still have the stupid machine but who wants to use it without any instruction videos. Jackie Chan should be looking into the products he puts his name on. I am so mad I got ripped off on this machine I will never watch anything that has to do with Jackie Chan on tv or video. I used to think he was funny, but I guess the joke was on me!

I was very dissatisfied with the cableflex I have. It offeres great resistance when it doesn't breakdown. The first one I orderded had a defect in the cable. The left cable wouldn't slide out as easy as the right one. I was sent another one and after a few months, the right cable wouldn't retract. I think it's a piece of junk!! Don't get it. I think the product has a flaw in its design.

All I can say is do not buy. I have been through 3 of these peices of junk. It is always the right pulley that breaks and the cable will not go back into the unit. I am getting a refund and not trying another one. Do Not Buy! Their advertised website isn't even up anymore.

This product is bogus. Even for folks who do not do a lot of weight training like myself, the resistance level is too low (even on its highest level) to be of any benefit. There is virtually no lower body benefit whatsoever and the ab exercises consist solely of crunches and do not utilize the "machine" at all. Unfortunately, this is another product that looks good in advertising but does not stand up to its claims.

This product is totally ineffective. While I never expected to build muscle with the Cable Flex, I at least hoped to maintain when I couldn't get to the gym. This product provides NO resistance whatsoever. I even had my 8 year old daughter try it at the highest resistance and it was not even challenging for her. Jackie Chan and Company should be ashamed at themselves for endorsing such a bogus product.

I just started the cable flex workout for the first time. My current level of shape is that I've been pretty physically inactive for a year or so. After using the first video (1 of 4 upper body work out), I though it was a great routine. They don't stretch you out before hand, so you have to do that on your own. However, the workout is non-stop for 15 min., and I was burning on the lowest level of resistance. The upper body video is not a complete upper body workout (this was mostly shoulders, biceps, back, and abs) but they supply you with tons of circuit training cards so that you can supplement the upper body workout on your own (after the video), or burn thought the circuit cards on another work out. The ab work out totally uses the machine. With the ab exercises, they have you use the foot straps on some, and even utilize the flat bar too. All and all the machine is great so far. I look forward to using it almost daily.

Believe me, I wanted to like this product. But I was incredibly disappointed. While its infomercial and website claim "an unlimited range of resistance", there's practically no resistance at all. I haven't worked out in 10 years and am an overweight weakling, so when I set the cable flex to its highest resistance level, I was disappointed that it didn't even challenge me a little. It was too easy and would certainly not tone or build muscle. The other thing I didn't like was the jerkiness of motion -- the cable, when pulled, is not smooth or natural. I do not recommend this gimmicky product and will be returning mine.

Well, after reading the listed reviews, I was very skeptical as to the effectiveness of the Cable Flex. Yes, the resistance seems low at first, but then pop in the video tape, and do every exercise, and you realize this a great machine. Not only for its versatility and ease of movement, but for its ability to deliver a full body workout. For now, it seems to be working fine, and the movement is supposed to be jerky at times. Why, because you are dealing with CABLES, they tend to pinpoint your weaker secondary muscles and provide a better overall tone. I'm not an expert at fitness, and I'm sure there are naysayers out there who would disagree. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Cable Flex -Amen!

Clearly not designed as a muscle building machine, the Cable Flex delivers what it promises in offering a hassle free full body workout. When you do a high volume of reps, you certainly will feel the resistance. The big plus is that you can combine aerobics with strength training, making your thirty minute workout doubly effective. I'd like to see additional workout videos.
- Adriahn of New Jersey, USA writes:
No resistance? Correction....plenty of resistance for a novice like myself. In fact, my only gripe is that there could be more fluidity with the cable system. Otherwise, let me assure you that my fast paced upper body workouts are most productive. Equally effective are the variety of lower body exercises you can perform. I've discovered that this system allows me to manufacture my own unique movements. I love it!

I have been using the product for about 3 weeks now. The upper body workout and ab workout are very good. However, I do not like the ankle straps. To me, they are a nuisance. Also, I feel that the prone leg exercises, which utilize the ankle straps, are totally ineffective. As far as a general overall workout, in comparison to investing in an expensive weight station, I'd say it is perfectly adequate for the average user who wants to get toned. It would not be effective; however, for the man who really expects to get ripped. But, since I had purchased the machine solely for toning and burning calories, I believe it does what they claim the machine will do.

I've used the Cable Flex for 2 weeks and its a great enhancement to my weight lifting program. The resistance could have gone higher, but with multiple reps I can feel it working the shoulder, chest and abs. It's a solid product but the customer service at Cable Flex is questionable. I purchased the product through a discount website and it did not come with the videos or instructions. If you choose to go this route you'll find yourself in my predicament - Cable Flex does not sell the videos nor can they send you the instructions so you're pretty much on your own. Luckily the cables allow for experimentation to design your own exercises. The company I purchase mine through, [], does not have customer service and did not even provide a receipt of purchase.

I mainly wanted to Cable Flex for an ab workout. And when I got it I tried it with my arms to see how much resistance I wanted to use at first. Well the first pull I took the cable came out and would not go back in. I call the customer service # and after waiting for a hour they said they would send me a new one. Six weeks later I call and ask where it is and the said it was on the way. A week later I get these Cable Flex Energy pills and I call them and asked what these were for the said that is what I ordered. Well 4 months later I still have this piece of CRAP sitting in my closet and I can't even get a hold of them to return it. DON'T BUY IT!!!!!!!!!!

I have been using the CableFlex for three weeks now, and I love it. I simply cannot get to the gym regularly, and I hate that atmosphere, so this is the first time in my life that I've been able to exercise daily. I find the movements fluid, and work up a sweat, and I feel my muscles becoming stronger by the day. The videos are good - I find myself already adding onto them, but they're a foundation, and help with proper body posture. I may feel differently in the future, but right now I'm quite satisfied with my purchase. My only worry is that they won't be in business by the time I need a new unit!
