Great workout especially for ladies

16 May 2008 - Tracey of Ga, USA writes:

Love this machine. As a woman I do the exercises at a lower resistence level, and do 18 to 20 reps for 3 sets. Love it, because it moves quickly from routine to routine, so you don't get bored. I also love doing the leg sqats 3 sets of 20 regular, and then turn my feet out and do another 3 sets of 20 reps working different muscles in my thighs. It lifts your butt like nothing else.

dissapointed

6 Dec 2007 - Jack of England, UK writes:

As many previous comments quick maxing out seems to be the problem. Ive not worked out for years and i work in an office. My first work out i had to use the maximum resistance on the squat, lat pull down and tricep dips, and this required very little effort. Also the resistance on the machine doesnt appear to come close to reality. I am nearly 17 stone and struggle to complete 3 sets of 10 pushups, however i managed 100% on the chest press without too much strain. I think long term only a small fraction of the movements would be capable of producing muscle bulking. On the plus side it is a compact machine, if not heavy, its is simple and quick to use and i imagine would be good for toning if that is your goal. I think the merits of this machine have been exagerated some what and i dont think it is capable of producing the results i wanted or expected. It is also a difficult machine to return if you are not happy with it, it weighs a substantial amount especially when packed, getting it back in the packing would be a problem, and the cost of returning it i would imagine would be high.

Add Weight bar

6 Nov 2007 - Nick of New Jersey, USA writes:

Not bad, like others say,you max out on many of the exercises.A little adjustment, tends to put more wt.,like putting the Bench Press,at,(I or J).Also try adjusting the handlebar length,it will work different parts of your chest and shoulders, plus making it more difficult.Maybe try adding a Weight Bar,like the HealthRider, did on their glider, underneath the seat.On the Lat pull, try cupping your hands,so your palms face you,and reverse curls can be done also,in the curling position. Try a Weight bar,so we can add more weight if needed.

Like it alot

5 May 2007 - Marty of New York, USA writes:

I just finished my 3rd workout. I find that I will max out the squat and triceps dip shortly. However, the machine puts you in the proper position for all exercises. I have found each of the targeted muscles actually being worked. Overall, it is one of the best pieces of equipment I have used in a long time.

Mixed Feelings

9 Apr 2007 - Steven of Texas, USA writes:

In reference to the previous post, I too maxxed out the weight for my triceps dip, lat pulldown and squat exercises during my first workout. Maybe it is just me, but I feel no weight when doing the leg press! One of the selling points for me was the fact it had a squat exercise. I wish it would have 150% resistance on all of the "pull" exercises...not just the "push" ones. I also wish Body by Jake would have mentioned this also... As for everything else, it is an okay home gym. It is simple to assemble, simple to operate, the movements are smooth and direct, and it is somewhat compact. I find the 150% resistance on the "push" exercises good enough for me, but it may not be enough for more experienced or stronger individuals. The $850 price tag is too expensive for what you get. However, if you can get it for much less, it is worth it.

My One Week on the Gravity Force Trainer

27 Feb 2007 - Eric of Ohio, USA writes:

I'm 6'2" at 191 lbs and I worked out 3 days in one week on the machine. PROS: Its quiet and the pulls & presses are smooth feeling. Assembly was easy since most of the machine is already setup. You just add the seat, legs, and handlebars to the machine and it’s ready for your workout. CONS: I have some real concerns over the weight resistance you truly get from the machine. The weight you select goes from 5% to 150% for some exercises, while you can only select 100% on other exercises. From my first day’s workout, I maxed out the weight for my triceps dip, lat pulldown and leg press exercises. You can only select 100% body weight on the back, triceps and leg exercises, where you need well more than your bodyweight to properly work out the muscles. The resistance is just not accurate. Though is says 100% bodyweight, it feels more like one half that at the most.
