Billy Blanks' Tae Bo Reviews and Product Ratings

16 Jun 2005 - Candice of Nebraska, USA writes:

Sure, Tae Bo is WAY intense, and way intimidating when you get started, but once you get yourself focused enough, Billy and Shellie take care of the rest, especially the motivation.  I've tried lots of different DVDs/Tapes in the past, and Tae Bo is definitely better than all of them.  Plus, if you've had a bad day, there's nothing quite like going home and kicking and punching away all the stress.   For those concerned about injuries, Billy modifies almost every move, or it doesn't take too much imagination to modify them by holding onto the back of a chair, or not kicking like you're in a Jackie Chan movie.  Even with the modifications, Tae Bo will do exactly what you want it to.  You just have to have the focus, discipline, and drive to do it for yourself.

Anyone who says that this isn't for beginners gave up too easily.  I'm a beginner.  I haven't exercised in years, but I've never felt more motivated to do it, every day, as I have been with Billy Blanks. I haven't tried any of the others yet, eventually I will but I won't bother until I get this one down. All the moves, all the steps... it's hard, it's tiring, I sweat like crazy and I feel like a million bucks when I'm done. Thank you Billy!

Since Billy's other DVD's aren't listed...I want to just review what I have: Tae Bo Flex, Tae Bo Fat Blasting Workout, and soon to come: Tae Bo Abs. Billy is really inspiring and helps me get through the workout. I still go to the gym for the weights. But on those busy days, I put in my 35 minutes on the Tae Bo Flex and whew!...I'm spent. Then, for some reason, you get this second wind, more energy to handle anything else you need throughout your day. Or if you need a stress release, Tae Bo is it. I just love the Tae Bo Flex, because it's not as "fast paced" like the other Tae Bo Series. You get to also hold a Tae Bo pose and "flex" it for about 8 seconds. Great for firming up, plus you get your Tae Bo Cardio in! Thanks Billy for the help in motivating myself to get back in shape!

2 Jun 2005 - Dayisel of Ontario, Canada writes:

Tae Bo is an effective workout and I lost 27lbs with it in 2 1/2 months.  And all I did was eat less and drink more water.  On the other hand I literally nearly passed out the first time I tried it and after doing it more slowly and carefully I injured my knee.  I got scared so I stopped using tae bo.  Then I started tae bo again about two years later and I again nearly fainted.  But this time I continued and that's when I lost the weight.  I do have to say that I am looking for an alternative because it is way too hard on my body.  Even after doing it for a long time I still feel exhausted and weak after using the tapes.  I am looking for something that will give me a great cardio workout without making me feel so tired that I feel like I don't have the energy to face the day.  Also, some of the movements are way to fast and hard to follow.  It is a good and effective product but try it first before you buy it, it isn't for everyone.  A word of warning start slow, maybe just five minutes after the stretching and increase from there.  I was in good shape when I first started using the tapes but my faintness was so bad that I was too week to call for help.  So start very slowly and carefully, preferably with someone else in the room.

25 May 2005 - Shelly of Ohio, USA writes:

I bought Taebo in 2004. Just in the last few months I got it out and dusted it off and started working out. I have always been one of those people who would live in a gym given the chance. I didn't have as much time to hang at the gym like I did before. I needed something fast. I get the same effect and same results working at home with Billy Blanks. I love Shelly in all the videos she is really up and ready to go, that helps me stay focused. I do warn anyone Taebo is not for everyone. If you have not worked out in a long time, or your just a lazy person. I don't think Taebo is for you.   A friend of mine worked out with me for three days and said it was to hard and quit. IT is hard and it's up to you to keep pushing your self. Do you want to reach your goal of better health, and looking good? The workouts are very hard on your body that's why with any program you should have a doctors approval before you start any program.   If you not sure about it rent it from your local movie place. They should have some of his tapes on hand my does. Then you can have an idea. Also when I first started I didn't go as fast as everyone on the tapes. I started at my own pace, sure I was behind the first week in the video. But one day I knew the moves to the videos and I was good to go. I am 4'11 and always have to watch my weight or I will gain and gain and gain. I fight with my weight like many of you do. I have not had a weight problem in years. It's all about how bad you want to be in good health and to look good. It takes hard work you don't get there with out pain and some hard work. I will use Taebo no matter what and will always be mu #1 work out.

I love the workouts!  I started with the Instructional video to learn the moves.  That's very important!!!  I suspect many who have complaints didn't start there.  Once you know the basic moves, you can keep up with his pace.  After a week or two I moved on to the Basic video.  I was getting ready to move on to the Advanced when I discovered his Cardio workout. I'm doing the Basic Cardio now, and I have  the moves down pretty good after less than two weeks.   The biggest things are be patient while learning the moves, pay attention to what he tells you, and do what you can without overdoing it.  He repeatedly tells you to not over do it, walk for a while if you're out of breath, and then join back in when you can.  You'll be surprised at how quick you improve.  Don't get discouraged after a day or a week.  It really does get easier! Also, if you have problems following the moves, try watching it in slow motion, and it won't take too long to pick up.  I did that with some of the Cardio moves, and it really helped.  I've lost 20 lbs in 10 weeks, and I feel great!  I can't wait to move on to the Advanced workout.

I absolutely love Tae Bo. I actually used it a little more than a year ago to lose about 50 pounds. I will admit it was a little hard at first but you have to COMMIT to doing the tapes. After reading many of the reviews, it sounds like people think it's too hard and give up way too quickly. Start with the basics tapes and do them at your own pace until you feel comfortable to move to the next tape. I just had a baby 6 weeks ago and am now having to lose all the baby weight I gained. I know it's not going to take very long to do it because of these tapes. I am going to purchase Billy's Boot Camp to see how I like that, too

Tae bo is so awesome for taking off inches and slimming you down when combined with some calorie cutting. I love it and everyone in the video provides motivation. The only thing I can think of that would be a downfall is that sometimes each side of the body is not worked evenly. Maybe he'll do 16 reps on one side and only 8 on the other. But, I make up for that by making it even myself once I got into it. Everyone should try tae bo. It's really fun.

14 Dec 2004 - Kim of Washington, USA writes:

I first bought Tae bo about 5 years ago, and I'm still using it on a regular basis!  The first year of doing the tapes I lost 45lbs and even burned through one of the tapes forcing me to buy the Tae Bo live series.  Since that time I've maintained my weight thanks to Billy Blanks and Tae Bo.  The best part about his entire series is that it is not only 45-60 minutes of intense cardio, but it is also a great strength training tool.  My arms and abs are toned, and after trying numerous ways to work out, I have found that I always go back to Tae Bo.

I purchased the Tae Bo tapes about 2 months ago. It is hard to stay motivated when you do it alone. In the end I would end up on the couch just watching it! Get a friend to do it with you! It's great fun and so much more motivating! You laugh together, punch and kick together, fall over together. My friend and I enjoy it tremendously! And that's not all! We see results! I have never sweated so much in my life! And I have always had a flabby tummy, but since doing tae bo, my tummy is so much more harder and flatter. I can't wait to see my body in the future! I would recommend tae bo to everyone!

I tried Taebo Cardio by Billy Blanks and thought it was a waste of money. The most annoying thing was the blonde "fitness assistant" that was right behind him. She literally made me nauseated. Her voice, frizzed out hair, and sweaty crotch were disgusting. Some of the moves are a little too quick, not because I am out of shape, but because I am not very coordinated. I have bought MANY exercise videos over the years and just could not get too pumped over this video. The music was also annoying. Billy is a good instructor, it's too bad he had to ruin this video with the gross annoying chic and the music. If you're working out for almost an hour it should be a pleasant working out atmosphere, not annoying. I would personally not recommend this tape.

16 Oct 2004 - Jennifer of Maine, USA writes:

I first got Tae bo back in 1998 after my first child was born, and really like it.  After my second child was born, I got back into it, and then I discovered the Cardio, strenght, energy...  series in March, and have been doing it ever since.  I love the new ones so much and have seen some major results in my abs, glutes, and hips.  People actually ask me if I've taken diet pills.  I recently lent one of my older tapes out to a friend, and she really likes it.  My sister in law told me that I have one year to get her in shape.  So I told her that I would bring my tae bo tapes over and we'd do them together.  I can't help but tell people how wonderful tae-bo really is, and that I do the tapes usualy 5-6 times a week.   Billy Blanks is so awesome, and when I'm tired, I sometimes wonder if he's the real reason I keep going.  I know he is!  I actually get really depressed when I miss a workout.  Another inspiration is Shelly. She is so awesome!  Love tae bo, it helps me get my nervous energy out. Love the fast pace.  Can't help but bring it up to everyone I meet.

I love Tae-bo. You get results very fast.  I love how Billy keeps you motivated not to give up.  It is hard at first if your not used to working out but you just have to set your own pace like he says in his videos.  The only thing is, is you have to be careful to do the exercise the right way or your hurt yourself.  I can be hard on your joints.  All in all I love it.

I purchased the Taebo Cardio for christmas and have been using it for over a month now, 3 days a week.  I have noticed toning in my hips, thighs, back and legs.  My clothes fit so much better now!  I can wear form fitting pants and look great!  It works!  It is hard at first, but after you get the hang of it, it can be exhilarating!  I recommend this product to those who truly desire to work out, it's not for the lazy or uncommitted!

Taebo tapes are wonderful.  I had the videos when they first came out, and I thoght they were very effective and motivating.  I now have the get ripped series, and it is much more exhilerating and challenging.  I am now buying the Taebo 2004 tapes, and can't wait to get them in the mail.  I am in the best shape I have ever been in, and my butt and legs are so toned and cut!  I highly recommend these to ANYONE.  You will not be disappointed.

I've tried Tae-Bo and it really does work! Its so easy and it only takes 30 minutes at the most. Its totally awesome, you don't have to waist hours at the gym, you can actually get a total body work out at home, no lie. I see my friend spend hours at the gym every day and our results are pretty much the same, except i have more time. I would have definatly recommend this work out to anyone thats willing to put 30 minutes into a work out. The only thing I dont like about it, is that there isn't enough streching before hand...other than that it's GREAT!

I've been doing Tae Bo for only 4 days and LOVE it so far. Day 1- I felt discouraged and confused, the moves were complex to me and I thought.. yeeks. However I'm the kind of person who knows youc an do anything you set your mind to so I didn't say "Too hard, bye bye". Day 2- I did the tape in the morning and actually felt pretty good. Then I did it at night and felt great because I actually got some of the moves down! Day 3-  I was counting outloud, getting the moves down and clapping and yelling "Woohoo!" when I finished some of the workout. Day 4- I had a blast and felt great! At 16 my heart isn't at 100% strength. However it's not severe as the doctor gave me no limits. So I eat healthy as heck and exercise.. and Tae Bo is definitely going to become a big part of what I do... I love it. And you can do it. The first 2 days I slowed the tapes down and rewound and rewound them over and over... but I got it. Give up on the small things and you might as well give up on life because the small things are what life is about. And if you succeed through this you will have such a confidence in yourself. After reading Billy Blakes story andthen watching what an inspiration he is I am 100% inspired.

I bought Tae-bo tapes about 2 years ago. I like the pacing, and how Billy reminds you to hold in your stomach. I tried to alternate Tae-bo with a walking regimen and ended up overworking my feet to the point that I couldn't do either. So I just went back to walking. But I really want to get back to Tae-bo because it works up a good sweat.

I think it's a waste of money if you're like me and don't workout much. Tapes are hard to follow cuz they go to fast.
