Not For The Beginner

4 Aug 2007 - Darlene of Minnesota, USA writes:

I thought I would try this and follow the beginner trainer. No way, yes I am way out of shape and have not exersized in years, but do not start here. I kept at it for a week and could not finish one session. Too discouraging, besides it being really difficult.

Something about it....

23 Jun 2006 - Lauren of New Jersey, USA writes:

I never bought the Firm box set, i just bought the videos on an online []. I use my transfirmer instead of the box and it works fine. The videos are the worst of all the Firm series. It's not the workouts themselves, it's the production. Lisa Kay (Fat Blasting Cardio) was the worst, hr cueing was bad, (watch Christa and she even gets confused). The set I guess was supposed to be "cool" but i don't like how you can't see all the instructors at one angle. The sound in the videos (music) was too loud at some points where you could not hear the instructors and a little annoying. But the workouts are fun and efficient.

Transfirmer is better!

28 Mar 2006 - Mona of Texas, USA writes:

This workout is good but, I had a problem with the box, it felt unstable to me and was time consuming when trying to fiddle with the legs going up down and on incline. I love the update to the Transfirmer it is easy to switch during workouts to incline and it is very stable! I use my box workouts with the transfirmer as well. If you are thinking about getting this try the transfirmer first you will love it!

I am absolutely thrilled with this exercise program! I have used it 3 times now and I'm hooked. I have used 2 different videos so far, and although challenging, I can tell that it will not be long before I am able to do all the exercises correctly. The footwork on the aerobic portions that I have experienced so far are a little tricky, but if you can slow it down frame by frame with your dvd player, you can tell they aren't hard, but just the moves are changed quickly. It is amazing how much you sweat just doing the moves without weights! Every site I have seen it listed on, the prices are very reasonable. The firm box is very sturdy and well worth the money no matter what the price. You will not be disappointed with the quality. The dvds are up-to-date with the music and the instructors are very experienced with calling out the exercises. Very professional. I highly recommend this workout program to anyone. I think that anyone could benefit, even if you are not able to do all the exercises. You won't be sorry. The variety of exercises is neat too. I hate sit-ups, but their abdominal exercises are great!

I got the BSS3 after having my son in Dec. 2004. By aug. I was 50lbs lighter. I stoped using it and gained back 30lbs. I am starting to use it again and expect to get the same great results. I love this workout because it is so effective. It not only slims you it sculpts you. I have tried almost everything on the market and nothing has worked like this. Give it a try you will love it. I am a Firm believer and I know you will be too.

I purchased this product in February of 2005.  I have to say that it really works and I couldn't wait to do these videos.  By May 2005 I lost 45 pounds!!!  This is by far the best product that I have tried because of an infomercial.

The Firm Body sculpting system (2002) is a phenomenal system, but when the product was tweaked for the 2004 release, a lot was left to be desired.   Yes, the actual exercises are more intense, which is great.  But it's a real disappointment after the 2002 product.  The exercises are poorly explained.  The camara angles and movement make it hard to follow the instructor along with the instructors clad in black workout outfits in front of a partially black background.   It's just a poor quality production, which is a shame because there are so many things that are positive about the Firm concept.  Buy the Firm Body Sculpting System (2002) and forget about the newer 2004 version.

3 Jan 2005 - Karen of Pennsylvania, USA writes:

I purchased the BSS3 system about 2 months ago. I already own 44 other Firm videos including BSS2- almost a complete set back to the very first one with Susan Harris.  I am at an advanced fitness level and have been doing The Firm consistently for 15 months, 5 days a week and LOVE it! KAYOS: Of all the Firm videos I have, I found  the BSS3 videos to give the LEAST results. The shorter ones are too short IMO to maintain the fantastic results I've gotten thru all the older Firm workouts. The reason I have this opinion is I did the BSS3 videos exclusively (in rotation) for about 3 weeks, 5 times per week, using the same poundage as with the other videos. I LOST results. I could tell when I went back to the BSS2 & older Firms because I got winded and had to pyramid down one size dumbell for the same workouts I'd been doing before I switched to the BSS3's. It only took me 4 workouts using the BSS2 and older Firm w/o's to get built back up to where I was. That's enough proof for me.  KUDOS: The girls have a new fresh look and footwork which helps with ennui. KAYOS: As for using the incline box for lower ab work, fuhgeddaboudit. You'll kill your low back from the stress - I found it VERY awkward to hold my body up on the inclined box for the lower ab session so I just rolled off onto the floor and did the abs there on the level. KUDOS: Incline box is GREAT for pushups done pointing headfirst down the incline & also as a weight bench for pec flies! :-) KAYOS: Music in some of the BSS3s is unbearably loud and thumpy, like you're at a club. The cuing stinks (or rather LACK of cuing) on several of them and they show very little of Libby or whoever the beginner model is. KUDOS: The moves on the step are more complicated than those of any other Firm series; it took me a few times through holding the slow button down on the remote to learn them. But they ARE fun :-) KUDOS: In all fairness, the BSS3s are better than NO workout at all, the 30 minute ones would come in handy when you don't have 50 or 60 minutes for a full workout. KAYOS: The first Firm Box I had was one of the first 2 generations with the rotten stability issues. I just recently got one of the third generation remodeled Firm Boxes with the issue resolved and it does make a difference for the better. FINAL ANSWER: Once in a while I might squeeze in a BSS3 Total Muscle Shaping w/o (which seems to be the most beneficial of the new w/o's) but I think I'll stick to the older Firms.

19 Dec 2004 - Sophie of Massachusetts, USA writes:

I purchased the Firm BSS 3 a few weeks ago. Although the tapes are significantly shorter than previous Firm system videos (the two main ones are 45 minutes long, and the cardio one is 30 minutes), you definitely work up a sweat! The new Firm box is excellent and great for lunges- you definitely feel it in your thighs and glutes the next day. Only drawbacks: the music is turned up too loud and at times it is difficult to hear the instructor. Also, a couple of the instructors are looking positively skeletal (with too much fake tan)! Overall: it's a good system. I continue to be a Firm believer.

1 Dec 2004 - Cathy of Arizona, USA writes:

I purchased the Firm 3 and I own the previous 2 also. I love the product! The only problem is that I need to make time for it to use on a regular basis. They are all excellent products and are the reason I do not need to go to a gym. For those who complain about being sore - that is the point of a good workout to an extent. No pain = No gain. I have recommended this produc to many who ask what I do. I don't use it to lose weight - I use it to stay in shape, but I know it does wonders for weight loss as well. So if you are wondering if to purchase this product or not, go for it and it has a guarantee that comes with it, but I guarantee you will not be returning it!

27 Oct 2004 - Rhonda of Iowa, USA writes:

I've only had this BSS for a couple weeks, but I like it better than the last 2. I've been a Firmie since 1993 and find this BSS to be really good. I love using the box on the incline, cause it seems to hit the glutes and hamstrings better. I've started using the box for other Firm workouts on the incline and it makes it much more fun. The Fat Blasting Cardio workout is a little short, but it is good for time crunched days. I love the other 2 workouts. I did find the set a little dark, and there were times it would have been good to see all of the instuctors. Now I've not done the workouts enough to tell if there will be great changes in my body, but I'm glad I spent the money getting Firm BSS3.

I recently received this product and found it to be a good one so far. My only complaints are small ones, i.e.e the set is bland and uninspiring as are the exercise clothes the ladies wear, and also one of the participants looks extremely underweight and scary, but since she isn't the one leading the instruction that's fine, too. The box could be easier to use, but it is perfect for this workout as well as my Cathe workout. All in all I'm pleased so far, no problems.
